Short-term consultant for private sector alliance development (Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo)

Abt Associates, through funding from USAID’s Strengthening Health Outcomes through the Private Sector (SHOPS project) is interested in developing private sector alliances for better coordination, collaboration and reporting between the public and the private health sectors and better resource mobilization to improve the “one” healthcare system approach in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo. Additionally, the SHOPS project is developing a Center of Learning and Leveraging as a resource center for private sector stakeholders in West Africa. Abt seeks a local short-term consultant in each of the following countries: Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, and Togo.

Job Description

The consultant will serve as a convener for the national private sector alliance, and will be responsible to add content to the online Center of Learning and Leveraging. This is a part-time position expected to require approximately 30 days over a six-month period. 

Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Identify key stakeholders to be invited to participate in the private sector alliance in the country.
  • Coordinate identification of venues, refreshments, and other operational requirements for scheduled monthly meetings (agendas and documentation for the meetings will be provided by the SHOPS project).
  • Document and report on monthly meetings to the SHOPS project team.
  • Identify and upload relevant local private sector resources to the online Center of Learning and Leveraging and serve as the local focal point for the website.
  • Identify topics and resources for the Center of Learning and Leveraging and provide content about private sector alliances and partnerships within the country.
  • Help increase participation and viewership on the online Center of Learning and Leveraging.

Job Qualifications

  • Experience convening a broad range of stakeholders and facilitating the development of strategic action plans
  • At least 5 years of program management experience
  • Spoken and written fluency in French; fluency in English a plus
  • Available to begin work immediately through June 2015
  • Familiarity with the health sector a plus
  • Familiarity with USAID procedures a plus

Deliverables

  • Meeting minutes and participant lists for monthly meetings
  • Monthly list of document uploaded on to the online Center of Learning and Leveraging
  • Monthly list of potential Center of Learning and Leveraging participants contacted
  • Monthly list of discussion threads reported on the Center of Learning and Leveraging
